80th anniversary of the sinking of HMS Hood

May 24th is the 80th anniversary of the sinking of HMS Hood with the loss of 1,415 crew members. A member of the congregation, Joanna Warrand, lost her father in the sinking and was a lifelong member of the HMS Hood Association until her death earlier this year. Because the Covid pandemic has prevented the annual service of remembrance in Portsmouth, there will be a memorial service at St James on the 24th at 1215pm. You a most welcome to attend or, if you prefer, to watch online.
